how badly were hydropower projects hit?

Answered by Chito · asked 5 times

Hydropower projects in Nepal were hit quite badly by recent floods. The damage to hydropower infrastructure alone is estimated at Rs 7.4 billion, disrupting about 430 MW of power generation capacity. In Myagdi, floods halted construction and damaged multiple hydropower projects, affecting power supply to the national grid. Transmission lines to Mustang and Annapurna were also damaged, causing further losses in 176 MW of hydropower projects. Overall, the floods caused massive damage worth Rs 1.34 trillion to hydropower and other infrastructure, with reconstruction efforts already underway. Interestingly, only about six listed hydropower projects suffered direct damage, but the sector experienced panic selling that dropped the sub-index by 65 points, reflecting investor concerns.
