How Chito works

How Chito works — in English

Chito reads what official bodies and news outlets publish, joins reports of the same event into one story, and shows a source and a date with every figure and notice.

Where the information comes from

  • Government offices, universities, the Public Service Commission and local governments: Chito reads their notice pages regularly and links every notice to the original.
  • Rates come from the body that sets them: Nepal Rastra Bank (foreign exchange), FENEGOSIDA (gold and silver), Nepal Oil Corporation (fuel), Kalimati market (vegetables) and Nepal Stock Exchange (shares).
  • News comes from Nepali outlets' public feeds: a headline, a short excerpt and a link to the outlet. Chito does not republish full articles.
  • The full list, with when each one was last read, is on the Sources page.

How stories are grouped

Many outlets report the same event. An AI model groups headlines about one event into one story; rules then check the result and merge duplicates only when the reports share articles, carry nearly the same title, or describe the same incident in the same district. Two reports are never merged on date or topic alone. Every story lists the outlets that covered it and links to each original article.

Neutral wording

Story titles say what happened, without loaded words. Claims are attributed to whoever made them. See the editorial standards.

What AI does and does not do

AI writes summaries, groups stories and answers questions in Ask. It does not set prices, rates or dates, and it does not write government notices: those are shown as the official source published them. Details are on the AI disclosure page.
